I have a passion for innovative intersections. I was the traffic management engineer for a motorway construction project and installed the first signalised roundabout in NZ. Sadly, it was a temporary stage in the construction and no longer exists.
I (independently) designed a diverging diamond interchange to address a difficult congestion problem at an Auckland interchange. When I later googled "innovative intersections" I learned that they had a name and were gaining popularity in the US.

Collapsed double quadrant with grade separation (?)
Abstract: This intersection is quite old. It has elements of quadrant roads, and seom grade separation for good measure. The "quadrants" are parallel to other roads, so do not look like normal quadrants. Operationally, they function much like quadrants are supposed to.
The approach to downtown effectively splits the roads to different areas of the CBD via the quadrant roadways.
Abstract: Opened in summer 2010. Second DDI opened to traffic in Springfield, which was also the second DDI to open in the US. Interchange got the go ahead to become a DDI after the success of the I-44/Route 13 DDI farther north in the city.
